Are There Any Good Kings? There is one such king: Jesus. To see him as anything less would be to aspire to less. Yet tragically, the Son of God and Son of Man has been misunderstood and misrepresented. He has been made out to be less than the fiercest yet tenderest, strongest yet most compassionate man among men.
That is one of the great accomplishments of our enemy: to make men misunderstand and mistrust the heart of the King so they will compromise and eventually replace him with inadequate substitutes, convinced they can arrange a better life for themselves. Separate the men from their King, the sons from their Father, the apprentices from their Teacher. Divide and conquer: it’s the oldest trick in the book, as old as the fall in the garden.
A pupil is not superior to his teacher, but everyone [when he is] completely trained (readjusted, restored, set to rights, and perfected) will be like his teacher.

If we are to become like Jesus but we don’t really like him, that is a huge problem. What could be the cause? Misinformation? Misjudgment? Mishandling? Misconception? To all of these, I say yes.
