This journey with Jesus, this fight for intimacy, this battle and romance and larger story and narrow way … this isn’t easy. There is neither a formula nor a system; we cannot predict the wildness of God and the customized and personalized healing and training he has for each of us.
If anyone tells you otherwise, you may want to take a few steps back. If you hear the words “You know what you need to do” — run.
What each of us does need is a man who is willing to pray for us. A brother who will listen to us and, of critical importance, ask good questions and point us to God for Fathering, surgery, and training. We are not meant to go at this alone. Ask God right now to bring to mind someone who you can journey with. If no one comes to mind, ask him to bring you an ally, a brother, to fight alongside you and share in the journey.
