Howard Hendricks, the great Bible teacher and friend of Jesus, once said, “You can tell a lot about a man by what he complains about. A man who complains the coffee is too cold or the beer to warm is a man who believes life is a cruise ship. A man who complains that he doesn’t have enough ammo is a man who knows he’s on a battle ship.”
What do you complain about? Take an inventory over a few days. Are you observing things and offering an opinion, or can your responses more accurately be described as complaining? What and who inconvenience you? Again, for the brave, ask a few friends or your spouse: what do I complain about?
