How we wish some sage, some person of extraordinary wisdom and insight who could fully understand our journey up to the current moment and possess more hope for our lives than we do, would say, “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you.” To be understood at the deepest level by another whose heart is pure and safe, to have someone who will stick with you to the completion of your journey ... this is what we want—this kind of direction and companionship.
So where can we find a person who can know us intimately and will guide us accurately? We do need such a person. It is God who has said, “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you” (Ps. 32:8). He knows what you were created to do. He knows what He has written on your heart in the form of your desires.
