As many of you may know, Michael has a wonderful thing for lions. He loves their strength, their beauty, their fierceness, and he loves Aslan. I have always appreciated that, but lately I am seeing it on a deeper level. I get it. And I am starting to love lionesses! I love their strength, their beauty, their fierceness, the way they are with their cubs and their lion! I try to send Michael pictures of lions when I come across them; it reminds us of who our God is and how we as his image-bearers reflect his strength, his beauty, his ferocity.
Numbers 23:24 says, “These people rise up like a lioness; like a majestic lion they stand.”
In her book Lioness Arising, Lisa Bevere puts it this way,
The lioness rises from her slumber, a magnificent image of strength, passion, and beauty. Her mere presence commands the landscape, protects her young, and empowers the lion. Jesus is, after all, the Lion of the tribe of Judah. And we are his lioness arising.
