I want to tell you a story of what it looks like to step into the battle and wield our sword against our enemy, on behalf of others.
One evening our youngest daughter came home from work in shock. Something was very wrong. She laid on our dog on the floor in my room. Ashley and I just sat there asking questions, but she would not speak. I wanted to move toward her, my momma’s heart wanted to hold her and tell her everything was going to be ok. But I wasn’t sure how to handle it. Was it the right timing? I just sat and asked God, “When should I move toward her? When should we pray? Tell me what to do, Jesus.”
After a few minutes, I got down on the floor next to her and asked her if we could pray for her. We reached out our hands and put them on our girl, and I quietly started to pray. I barely got two sentences out, and out of nowhere my oldest daughter, Ashley, wonderfully, powerfully interrupts with fierce warfare prayer against the enemy; speaking boldly, proclaiming, and declaring. “We come against you and any and all foul spirits coming against our Abbey, darkness, fear, trauma… we bind you and banish you in the name of Jesus. You are cut off and you have NO place here. You cannot have her. You CANNOT have her peace. You CANNOT have her heart. You CANNOT take back any of the ground that she has gained.” She continued to pray fiercely over her and I just sat blown away.
When Ashley finished praying, Abbey sat up and her face was completely changed: her countenance was at peace and rest. She was settled and delivered and free from the evil that had assaulted her that night. She was able to share with us what happened. The enemy had literally all-out assaulted her deep heart, her glory, and her worst fear.
This is what warriors do. They move towards in gentleness and they disarm with strength. This is the effect we have and this is the power of God in us: for others, on their behalf.
